Lisa Rivera Skubal Awarded Recertification in Economic Development Designation

(Waterloo/Cedar Falls) – Lisa Rivera Skubal, CEcD, Vice President of Economic Development with the Greater Cedar Valley Alliance & Chamber has been awarded re-certification by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) effective October 2018.  Skubal first achieved the Certified Economic Development designation in 2000.  CEcD recertification, required every three years, was awarded to Skubal who met demanding requirements for continuing education and service to the profession. 

With twenty-eight years of economic development experience, Skubal is responsible for leading programing dedicated to business recruitment & retention and business & economic information delivery for the Cedar Valley.  

In 2016 she was named as one of North America's Top 50 Economic Developers by Consultant Connect for exemplifying best practices in economic development.  Skubal was the first economic development professional in Iowa to be named to North America's Top 50 Economic Developers list.  

The designation of Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) is a highly recognized national recognition that denotes a mastery of principal skills in economic development, professional attainment and a commitment to professional growth.  Skubal first earned certification by passing a rigorous three-part, two-day examination, testing her knowledge, proficiency and judgement in the key areas of economic development.

As a highly skilled economic development practitioner, Lisa and over 1,000 other Certified Economic Developers work with public officials, business leaders and community members to create and retain high-quality jobs, establish economic vibrancy,and improve quality of life for the people they serve.
