2020 Cedar Valley Regional Business Interview Report – Industry Insights

The Cedar Valley Regional Business Interview Report highlights the current business climate in the Cedar Valley. Dozens of interviews take place each year by our team in partnership with area economic development professionals.

Thank you Strategic Marketing Services and Institute for Decision Making at The University of Northern Iowa for compiling the data and report.

The 2020 Industry Insights interviews were conducted between July through September 2020. The interview included COVID-19 related questions to determine the impact on operations, staffing, and supply chain.

At the time of the interview:

• 68% of the business reported their primary product/service was growing; nearly 4% higher than the statewide percentage of companies.
• 61% stated they are experiencing a negative disruption in their supply chain or anticipate it.
• 23% of the companies were experiencing financial problems.

The 2021 interviews are underway. The data from the report helps us adjust programming to support existing businesses including legislative policy.
