Our goal is to expand the base of business and institutional investment, delivering opportunities for business locations to our Cedar Valley cities.

  • Promoting the Cedar Valley of Iowa as a location for businesses in targeted sectors, complementing our strong base in advanced manufacturing and related services, product based information technologies, health care and higher education technologies and bio-based products and services.
  • Working in tandem with our local partners throughout the Cedar Valley economic area to deliver a unified message about the attributes and advantages of expanding a business here.

Cedar Valley Resources

  • Cedar Valley Data Portal - This one-stop data portal provides current demographic and economic data from individual cities as well as the Iowa counties of Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Chickasaw, Fayette, and Grundy. 
  • Cedar Valley Wage Data – This resource from Iowa Workforce Development shows mean wages by occupation for the Waterloo-Cedar Falls MSA. Select, “Search by Area/Occupation,” then select “Metropolitan Area” from the Area Type drop-down menu. Finally, select “Waterloo-Cedar Falls, IA Metropolitan Statistical Area” from the Geography dropdown menu. You can then view wages by position for the Cedar Valley.
  • Cedar Valley Regional Partnership (CVRP) - This collaborative partnership is comprised of economic development organizations in Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Chickasaw, and Grundy counties. The partners take an integrated approach to assisting new companies from the the initial site location search through site selection, start-up, and ongoing operations. 
  • Industry Insights – This is a region-wide program carried out by CVRP economic development professionals to manage business retention and expansion (BRE) data. Download the 2018 Industry Insights Report. 
  • Industry Insights on Talent – This annual program collects information through an online survey on workforce supply, skills demands, recruitment, work-based learning programs, and educational preparation. The assessment was developed with input from both education and business partners. The information gathered helps shape educational and talent attraction programming in the Cedar Valley.
  • Incentives and Project Management – We help your firm identify and quantify available incentives and programs when your firm is expanding or training workforce. We assist you in managing the process with both state and city agencies/governments.
  • Manufacturing Day Events – We promote awareness of careers in manufacturing, engineering, and skilled trades, to more than Cedar Valley students so they can see the 21st-century technology first hand.
  • Retailer Support – Through Value in the Valley and Investor-to-Investor Discounts we encourage support of Cedar Valley retailers.

Grow Cedar Valley Investors Networking Events

  • Annual Celebration and Annual Awards – The annual celebration provides recognition for contributions of individuals, businesses, and organizations.
  • Business Education Events  – Workshops and seminars on relevant topics held as needed to keep business leaders up to date and assist in business growth.
  • CEO Roundtable – This annual breakfast is an opportunity for CEOs, COOs, and CFOs to gain valuable insight into current business issues.
  • Cedar Valley Manufacturers Network (CVMN)  – This network provides a means for linking manufacturers in the Cedar Valley of Iowa to share ideas and best practices. Membership is limited to only manufacturers, ensuring that meetings are a place for manufacturers to learn from one another and share experiences. Meetings consist of workshops, facility tours primarily outside of the Cedar Valley, and facilitated peer learning.
  • Golf Classic – Network in a relaxed atmosphere with Grow Cedar Valley investors, community leaders, and potential clients.
  • Good Morning Cedar Valley – Quarterly networking breakfast informing investors of current issues in Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Black Hawk County, and the Greater Cedar Valley.

Cedar Valley Workforce Development

  • Regional Collaboration – We work with regional lower- and higher-education institutions to build the next generation of workforce. Information from Industry Insights and Industry Insights on Talent is shared to assist colleges, universities, and Pre-K-12 schools build curriculum relevant to the needs of regional employers.
  • Economic Inclusion – This initiative focuses on the importance, impact, and benefits to business of effective diversity and inclusion practices. A summit and two multicultural receptions are held annually.
  • Inclusion Toolkit – This is an online library of best practices for diversity and inclusion policies and management tools, many created or used by Cedar Valley businesses to onboard and retain diverse talent.
  • Cedar Valley Leadership Institute (CVLI) – Increasing knowledge and skills of emerging business and civic leaders through monthly professional development days focusing on economic development, government relations, and diversity.
  • Leader Valley – Implementing The Leader In Me® in Cedar Valley K-12 schools to employ the "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" in the classroom.
